Abstract
The absorption rates of harzadous volatile halogenated hydrocarbons- 1,1,2-trichloroethylene and 1,1,2,2,-tetrachloroethylene through human respiration was investigated from 11 cases of healthy volunteers. The average absorption rates were 65.7% for 1,1,2-trichloroethylene, 49.3% for 1,1,2,2-tetracholoroethylene. Coefficient of variance of obtained data from 11 cases were 23.2% and 51.3%, respectively, which means the absorption rates are very variable according to individual. Though, the absorption rates obtained in this study cannot be representative, due to the limitation of investigated case number, the data would be informative for estimating the accumulative inhaled amount into human body exposed to a certain level of gaseous volatile halogenated hydrocarbons.
